How to use this target

A 2 MB budget may suit a short document, but page count alone cannot predict file size. A single detailed scan can outweigh dozens of text pages. This preset starts with a conservative 2,000,000-byte ceiling.

  1. Choose the source PDF and confirm the destination wants a single document, not individual image files.
  2. If you have the original Word or presentation file, consider exporting a clean PDF instead of rescanning a printed copy.
  3. After compression, check small text, diagrams and every required page. Confirm the final byte size and upload the downloaded output, not the original.

What to check before uploading

Compression cannot prove that a recipient will accept a document. Destination rules may also require orientation, searchable text, unencrypted files or a specific PDF profile. The validator reports its measured checks; it does not certify legal validity or official acceptance.

Common questions

Why is the PDF still above 2 MB?

The file may contain many high-detail page images or content that cannot be simplified safely. Avoid repeatedly compressing the same result; return to the original and reconsider allowed settings.

Can I use this for an email attachment?

Yes, if the recipient accepts PDF and the actual attachment limit is at least this large. Email encoding can add overhead, so a near-limit file may still need a smaller target.
