EVIDENCE, WITH LIMITS

What can this image tell us?

AI detection cannot reliably prove whether every image is AI-generated. Use this check as a clue, alongside the original source and editing history.

Screenshots, edited or compressed images, artwork and images from unfamiliar generators may be misclassified. Do not use this result to accuse someone or to make a high-stakes decision.

How this free AI image check works

The optional open-source vision model looks for image patterns. Metadata inspection separately looks for supported generation declarations or a diffusion-style recipe. Neither result proves origin, and the two may disagree.

Which model does it use?

AI Image Detect Distilled by Jacob Allessio, via the MIT-licensed ONNX conversion. It was trained on real images and selected Midjourney and Stable Diffusion images. Our quantized browser version has not been independently validated across today’s generators; we make no accuracy guarantee.

Does it verify Content Credentials?

No. It can identify supported credential containers, but does not validate their signatures or read all assertions. Inspect Content Credentials with Verify for a provenance view. Absence of credentials is not evidence that a file is genuine or fake.

Can it check documents, video or audio?

This version supports still JPEG, PNG and WebP images only. It does not determine whether PDF or text content was written by AI, or detect deepfake audio or video.

Where is my result saved?

AI-check images and results are not saved. Prepared compression and enlargement outputs are separately available in the workspace’s Recent files. Read our privacy policy.
